Both of us were born and raised in the suburbs of Windsor, Ontario, and met in high school, where our interest in reptiles began.
Our first encounter taking care of exotic animals was reptile sitting for our high school's "Living Lab". Our chemistry teacher, an avid herper, kept over 40 species of snakes, lizards, amphibians, and turtles in his classroom, and ran an after-school club to take care of them. In the summer, students could volunteer to care for some of the reptiles over the summer breaks. To Trish's parent's dismay, she brought home of a variety of animals each summer including Macklot's pythons, king and milk snakes, crocodile skinks, and geckos, among others.
We moved to Ottawa 6 years ago, and decided to purchase our first reptile. However, we were not very keen on shipping because of the expense, as well as the dangers of shipping during the extreme temperatures of summer and winter. We found an excellent breeder in Montreal and picked up a Honduran milk snake. Our reptile family has since expanded to include the following, all from breeders between Windsor and Ottawa:
1.2 Insular Dwarf Boas 1.0 Het Piebald Ball Python 1.1 Kenyan Sand Boas 1.1 Crested Geckos 0.1 Micro Geckos 1.1 Tangerine Honduran Milk Snakes
When we're not herping, we enjoy playing baseball, skating on the canal, playing Settlers of Catan, or watching Grey’s Anatomy and Lost.
